Is it possible to do your driving theory test/driving test in english in Portugal?
Alyson F asked:
I am Irish. I live in Alentejo. I love Portugal. It is home for me. I live in a rural place and now really need to get my driving license. I do not wish to return to Ireland to do so as it’s a long and arduous process, plus winter is rather miserable in Hibernia (hence the name!). I would sell my granny to get my driving license sorted in Portugal. Any input/advice very much appreciated.

Look at the links for more info. But from my understanding of them, you can have an approved translater with you.
Sell your granny – haha love it!!!
I dont know unfortunately, but I am glad you’ve asked this question because I was wondering the same thing myself. I’m 25 years old and think it’s about time I took my driving test (I’ve been learning to drive since I was 17 – 8 years and still no drivers licence, how embarrassing!!) but I would prefer to wait until we’re settled in Portugal rather than rush to get it done here in the UK, as we’re looking at moving as soon as next month. I’ve already passed my theory though, which expires next august so really need to get my ar$e into gear, lol!
I-m not sure about Portugal, but I know that in Spain you can. You can have your theory test in english, but the problem will be to find an english speaking instructor.
Anyway go to, wich is the portuguese national traffic division, and contact them.
I guess you can, but put that question to or just contact them.
Don’t forget, if you’re nice (i mean gentle, good manners, not if you’re a hot blond in a mini skirt! lol) and educated i’m sure they’ll be glad to help you. (don’t forget also to give them a dozen bottles of Jameson’s or any other irish whiskey… lol i’m kidding!)
PS – sell your granny, hum? shame on you! lol
Hi.
There is one school that have special classes in foreign language.
I don’t know if they have a school in Alentejo.
Better is if you ring them and ask.
